How to Access Oia in the Island of Santorini
Oia is a picturesque village, perched on a cliff up high in the island of Santorini. Even though it is not that hospitable at first sight, there are numerous different ways for you to access the village and enjoy its memorable experiences. The most popular method for getting to Oia is by bus, since there is frequent transportation to and from Fira. Fira is of course the heart of Santorini and therefore you do not have to worry about not being able to get easy access at the time of your liking. The bus is really affordable, costing about 3 euros per person.
Of course, there are also various taxi drivers available within your reach and their fare is not high either. You can rent a car and follow the steep route to the village, but you should be extremely cautious if you decide to do so. The road is quite narrow and there are continuous turns and so you need to be on alert and not drive too fast. Another alternative for you, if you are not such a fan of driving or travelling on the shuttle bus, would be to schedule for a ferry trip to the small port of Oia, Ammoudi. This is going to be a delightful experience for you, since you will get the chance to combine your transportation along with the enjoyment of the breathtaking views to the caldera.
Whatever you do, you should pay attention to the time of your travel. In the afternoon, the village gets overcrowded due to the spectacular sunset. So, you should keep that in mind and arrange for you to be there on time, in order to find a spot in one of the cafeterias or the restaurants with the perfect view to the wonder of nature that is about to occur.
